Jets QB Aaron Rodgers to have no restrictions when OTAs open

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be ready to go when the New York Jets begin OTA practices on May 20. The four-time MVP, eight months removed from surgery to repair a torn left Achilles, will have "no restrictions," according to coach Robert Saleh. "Once phase three hits, we're not anticipating any restrictions from what we can and can't do with him," Saleh said Friday at the start of a two-day rookie minicamp. Phase three, which lasts four weeks and covers 10 practices, is when teams are allowed to do noncontact, 11-on-11 work. That Rodgers will participate shouldn't come as a surprise; he was practicing on a limited basis over the final month of last season. Still, it's noteworthy, considering the severity of his injury. "The guy can still sling it," Saleh said. "Obviously, he's still working through his rehab, but there are no issues on the trajectory on which he's going." Even with Rodgers' return, the Jets won't be at full strength at quarterback until...

Sources: NBA, sportsbooks discuss changes to player props

In the aftermath of the Jontay Porter betting scandal, the NBA and its partner sportsbooks are discussing changes to betting menus to combat similar occurrences in the future, sources familiar with the talks confirmed to ESPN. Among the changes that have been discussed is prohibiting betting on players on two-way contracts between the G League and the NBA, sources said. More extreme measures such as not allowing bets on the "under" on a player prop have been considered, sources said, but there are concerns that restricting wager types could push bettors into the unregulated betting market. The NBA has commercial contracts with sportsbooks such as BetMGM, DraftKings and FanDuel that give the league some influence on what types of wagers are offered. Gambling industry site Legal Sports Report first reported the talks between the NBA and sportsbooks. "Since states began legalizing sports betting in 2018, we have worked closely with betting operators as well as integrity monitoring...

Rick Bowness, Andrew Brunette, Rick Tocchet up for Adams Award

Rick Bowness, Andrew Brunette and Rick Tocchet are the finalists for this year's Jack Adams Award, the NHL announced Friday. The award is given annually to the coach who is "adjudged to have contributed the most to his team's success." Bowness spent his second season in Winnipeg guiding the Jets to a 52-24-6 record, good for second in the Central Division and fourth in the NHL with 114 points. The Jets dominated defensively, tying for the fewest goals against in the league (2.41 per game) while sitting 15th in offense (3.16 goals per game). Winnipeg also posted an eight-game win streak for the first time, as part of a larger 14-game run when the Jets earned at least one point. Bowness balanced his coaching responsibilities with handling personal matters, including when he stepped away from the team to care for his wife following a seizure. Brunette took on his first full-time head-coaching job with Nashville this season, after previously being the interim bench...

Source: Dolphins, WR Odell Beckham Jr. agree to 1-year deal

MIAMI -- The Dolphins have agreed to terms on a contract with wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., a source confirmed to ESPN, adding a veteran presence to a position group looking for a third option. The source said it's a one-year deal worth $3 million, with incentives that can push its max value to $8.25 million. Beckham visited with the Dolphins in March, but the sides were unable to reach an agreement then. General manager Chris Grier said before the NFL draft that there was "nothing imminent" on a deal with the three-time Pro Bowler; despite taking two wide receivers in the draft, Grier didn't downplay the possibility of signing Beckham after its conclusion. "We always look at opportunities and work through it," Grier said. "We're always looking to add to the roster and have the most competitive roster we can to make the team better; as we've always talked, competition is what breeds excellence. For us, we'll keep looking, like we've said, post-draft, like we've...

Former coach Mike Riley named to CFP selection committee

Former Oregon State and Nebraska coach Mike Riley has been named to the College Football Playoff selection committee. He replaces athletic director Pat Chun, who was appointed to the 13-member committee when he was at Washington State but stepped down when he was hired for the same position at Washington. "We are pleased to have Mike join the committee," Bill Hancock, executive director of the CFP, said in a statement Friday. "He has significant experience as a player and coach, and he loves college football. He will bring a unique perspective to the committee. Plus, he is a delightful human being." Riley, who will serve a three-year term on the committee, was the head coach at Oregon State from 1997 to 1998 and again from 2003 to 2014 before leaving for Nebraska. Riley was fired from Nebraska by former athletic director Bill Moos in November 2017, just hours after the Cornhuskers lost to Iowa 56-14 to close a 4-8 season in Lincoln, the worst at the...

Bills add wide receiver Chase Claypool on 1-year deal

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Bills continued to add to their wide receiver room after the draft, signing Chase Claypool to a one-year deal, the team announced Friday morning. The 6-foot-4, 238-pound receiver brings veteran depth to a receiver room that is being reconstructed after Stefon Diggs was traded, Gabe Davis left in free agency, and Keon Coleman was drafted 33rd overall. Claypool ran a 4.42 40-yard dash at the NFL combine in 2020. Claypool, 25, has been with three teams over the past two years, most recently with the Miami Dolphins after the Chicago Bears traded him in October. Early in the 2023 season, Claypool expressed frustration with how he was being used in the Bears' offense, and he was then inactive for multiple games before being traded to Miami, where he caught four passes in nine games. He was acquired by the Bears in a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers the previous year. Claypool spent the first two full...

Patrick Beverley vows to 'be better' after fan, media spats

Milwaukee Bucks guard Pat Beverley indicated that a video showing him throwing a ball at a spectator Thursday was misleading but later added that "I have to be better." Cameras showed Beverley sitting on the bench and tossing a ball into the stands. The ball hit a fan with about 2½ minutes left in Milwaukee's 120-98 Game 6 loss at Indiana that knocked the Bucks out of the playoffs. After a different fan threw the ball back to Beverley, who was holding his arm out for it, the Bucks guard fired it back at that spectator. Beverley declined to answer a question about it while speaking to reporters after the game. But he replied to an X post that showed the video by saying, "Not Fair at all. Exchanged between a fan and our ball club all night. We warned and asked for help all night. Not fair." Six hours later, Beverley issued another X post saying, "But I have to be better. And I will." Also during his postgame media session, Beverley wouldn't...

Arsenal forward Jesus won't leave this summer - Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said on Friday the club has no intention of allowing striker Gabriel Jesus to leave the club this summer. The Brazil international has struggled with knee problems since undergoing surgery for an injury sustained at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Oscar De La Hoya demands Canelo retract 'defamatory' claims

LAS VEGAS -- Oscar De La Hoya issued a cease-and-desist letter Thursday to Canelo Alvarez over what he says are "defamatory allegations" that the Golden Boy Promotions founder stole money from former champion Gennadiy Golovkin, among other fighters. The legal letter, a copy of which was obtained by ESPN, demands that Alvarez issue a retraction and refrain from making further defamatory comments. The action comes one day after tensions erupted between Alvarez and his former longtime promoter at a news conference ahead of Alvarez's undisputed super middleweight championship defense against Jaime Munguia on Saturday. De La Hoya jabbed Alvarez by referencing his positive test for the banned substance clenbuterol ahead of his 2018 rematch with Golovkin. Alvarez countered by warning fighters to "contact your lawyers because he is surely stealing from you. It's the only thing he comes to do in boxing. ... If I hadn't involved my lawyers, you would steal from me." In the letter, De La...

TORONTO -- Boston Bruins coach Jim Montgomery called out star forward David Pastrnak after a 2-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night sent this first-round series to a Game 7.  Montgomery was asked if the Bruins needed more from their top skaters to avoid elimination Saturday in Boston (8 p.m. ET, ABC), and he identified Pastrnak in particular as needing to provide more to the group. "Your best players need to be your best players this time of year," Montgomery said. "I think the effort is tremendous. They need to come through with some big-time plays in big-time moments. [ Brad] Marchand has done this throughout the series. [Pastrnak] needs to step up." Pastrnak has two goals and four points this postseason for a Boston team that once held a 3-1 lead in the series.  Boston got off to another sluggish start in Game 6 and was outshot 12-1 in a scoreless first period. No charges for Cowboys' Dak Prescott for alleged 2017 assault

Dallas police will not pursue sexual assault charges against Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, with a police spokesperson saying Thursday that detectives determined there was insufficient evidence an offense was committed. The case stemmed from an alleged incident that occurred in 2017 in which a woman said Prescott assaulted her in the back of an SUV in a strip club parking lot. In March, Prescott filed a suit seeking monetary relief in excess of $1 million after receiving a letter in January from attorneys Bethel and Yoel Zehaie on behalf of the woman stating they would "forego pursuing criminal charges, along with disclosing this information to the public, in exchange for compensating her for the mental anguish she has suffered. [The woman's] damages are valued at the sum of $100,000,000.00." The woman filed a countersuit and criminal charges after Prescott's initial filing. Sources: NCAA could pay over $2.7B to settle antitrust suits

The NCAA's national office might be footing the bill for a settlement expected to be more than $2.7 billion in the landmark House v. NCAA lawsuit and other related antitrust cases, in hopes of reshaping and stabilizing the college sports industry, sources told ESPN on Thursday. Sources told ESPN this week that parties have proposed the NCAA's national office -- rather than its individual member schools or conferences -- would pay for the settlement of past damages over a period of 10 years. The NCAA payments would be paid to former college athletes who say they were illegally prevented from making money by selling the rights to their name, image and likeness. The settlement would come with a corresponding commitment from conferences and schools to share revenue with athletes moving forward, sources said. The settlement would establish a framework for power conferences to share revenue with their athletes in the future. Sources have told ESPN that schools are anticipating a ceiling...

LOS ANGELES -- The Chargers agreed to terms with wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. on Thursday, a source confirmed to ESPN. NFL Network was first to report the news. Chark, who has played six seasons in the NFL, brings experience to an unproven Chargers receiving room. Prior to the agreement, the Chargers had no receiver with more than three years in the NFL or a season with over 800 yards. Chark, at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, played for the Carolina Panthers last season, where he had 35 catches for 525 yards and five touchdowns. Chark's best season came when he played for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019, when he had 73 receptions for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns, all career highs that earned him his first and only Pro Bowl selection. The Chargers will hope that Chark can regain that form in Los Angeles after they traded wide receiver Keenan Allen, released wide receiver  Mike Williams and let tight end Gerald Everett and running...

Damian Lillard laments Bucks' injuries after playoff exit

INDIANAPOLIS -- After spending the hours leading up to Game 6 getting around-the-clock treatment on his injured right Achilles, Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard said he decided he wouldn't be able to enter the summer without knowing he did all he could to be on the floor. Lillard returned after missing Games 4 and 5 of the series, but the short-handed Bucks did not have enough against the Indiana Pacers, dropping Thursday's game 120-98 and losing the series in six games. "I don't think I would've went into the summer feeling good about much if I felt like I let the team go out there and me not at least try," said Lillard, who finished with 28 points. The Bucks could not overcome the loss of Giannis Antetokounmpo, who missed the entire playoff series because of a left calf strain. He didn't appear in another game after sustaining the injury April 9. "It's definitely disappointing because you know how much better of a team we are...

Bench players Obi Toppin, T.J. McConnell lead Pacers into semis

INDIANAPOLIS -- T.J. McConnell and Obi Toppin complemented one another's play perfectly Thursday night. They were still trading fist bumps long after the Indiana Pacers celebrated a rare series-clinching victory. Toppin scored 21 points, McConnell added 20 points and nine assists and they led the Pacers to a 120-98 rout over the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 6, sending them to their first Eastern Conference semifinal in a decade. "It means a lot," McConnell said. "Not getting into the playoffs since the bubble, not being able to advance since 2014, we take great pride in being able to advance and extend our season. Milwaukee has a great team and, if I can be honest with you, I think our bench has taken a couple steps back competitive wise and I think tonight all of us went out there with the mentality we're going to take it to another level." Source: Chiefs decline fifth-year option for Kadarius Toney

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Chiefs declined Thursday to exercise the fifth-year option for the 2025 season on the contract of wide receiver Kadarius Toney, a source told ESPN, giving him one more season remaining on the deal he signed with the New York Giants as a first-round draft pick in 2021. Toney was traded to the Chiefs the next year. Both general manager Brett Veach and coach Andy Reid recently indicated Toney was in the Chiefs' plans this season. "I don't think we ever stopped believing in him,'' Veach said shortly before the draft. "I think people around the building like him. It's the injury bug. Hopefully, he gets some luck on his side and can stay healthy and can be the player that he was at Florida and the player that we've seen in spurts here. I'm just hoping he has a good offseason and has a little luck on his side and can stay healthy.'' With the Chiefs counting on him for big production, Toney had a disappointing 2023 season. Bucks' Damian Lillard returns for Game 6; Giannis Antetokounmpo out

Milwaukee Bucks star guard  Damian Lillard is available and will play in Thursday's must-win Game 6 vs. the Indiana Pacers, while Giannis Antetokounmpo has been ruled out. Lillard, who was doing his pregame warmups, earlier had been upgraded from doubtful to questionable as the Eastern Conference first-round series continues in Indianapolis. Bucks coach Doc Rivers said both players had "great workouts" on Thursday afternoon, prior to Antetokounmpo, the two-time MVP, being ruled out on the official injury report. Antetokounmpo had previously been listed as doubtful because of the calf injury that has kept him out of the series and off the court since April 9. Lillard has sat out the past two games with a right Achilles injury. The eight-time All-Star averaged 32.3 points in the first three games of the series for the Bucks, who trail 3-2 in the best-of-seven series. On Tuesday, Rivers described Lillard and Antetokounmpo as "very, very, very close" to...

Source: Steelers decline RB Najee Harris' fifth-year 2025 option

PITTSBURGH -- The Steelers are declining the fifth-year option for the 2025 season for running back Najee Harris on Thursday, a source told ESPN, making him a free agent after the 2024 season. And as expected, the team also formally declined quarterback Justin Fields' fifth-year option, sources told ESPN. The Steelers are not ruling out agreeing to a deal with Harris after this season, however, sources told ESPN. With the new offense being installed, the feeling is the organization wants to see how Harris and the other running backs function in Arthur Smith's offense before making a longer-term commitment to him. Harris and Fields are the latest Steelers to have their fifth-year options declined by the team. The team also declined options for Jarvis Jones, Artie Burns, Terrell Edmunds and Devin Bush. T.J. Watt, selected in the 2017 draft, was the last Steelers draft pick to have his fifth-year option picked up by the team. The team...

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. --  Inter Miami CF defender Marcelo "Chelo" Weigandt said he expects a difficult match against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday at Chase Stadium, adding that when Lionel Messi is on your team, opponents treat each match like it's a final. "And we have to play every game like it's a final to try if we want to achieve what we aspire to. But the team looks good, we're happy and we work hard throughout the week. - Stream on ESPN+: LaLiga, Bundesliga, more (U.S.) "They give us ideas and we try to execute them on the pitch," added Weigandt when speaking to the media ahead of Thursday's training session. Miami last faced the Red Bulls on March 23, falling 4-0 without Messi. The Argentine striker failed to travel with the team because of a right hamstring injury, leaving head coach...

Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias pleaded no contest Wednesday to a misdemeanor domestic battery charge tied to his September arrest on suspicion of domestic violence. Urias was placed on 36 months of summary probation and ordered to complete 30 days of community labor as well as a 52-week domestic violence counseling course, a spokesperson for the L.A. City Attorney's Office said. In addition, Urias, 27, must pay a domestic violence fund fee, not possess any weapons, not use any force or violence, pay restitution to the victim and abide by a protective order. The four other misdemeanor charges against Urias -- an additional count of domestic battery involving a dating relationship, as well as one count each of spousal battery, false imprisonment and assault -- were dismissed. Urias was originally arrested Sept. 3 on suspicion of felony domestic violence for an incident that occurred in the parking lot of BMO Stadium after an LAFC...

Tiger Woods accepts special exemption to play in U.S. Open

Fifteen-time major champion Tiger Woods has accepted a special exemption to play in next month's U.S. Open at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in North Carolina, the United States Golf Association announced Thursday. Woods, a three-time U.S. Open winner, last won the event in 2008. While he has lifetime exemptions into the Masters and PGA Championship and can play in The Open until he's 60 as a former winner of those tournaments, Woods' exemption into the U.S. Open ran out in 2023. It's the first time Woods hasn't qualified for a major championship since the 1996 PGA Championship, when he was still an amateur. The 124th U.S. Open will be played on Pinehurst's Course No. 2 on June 13-16. "The U.S. Open, our national championship, is a truly special event for our game and one that has helped define my career," Woods said in a statement. "I'm honored to receive this exemption and could not be more excited for the opportunity to compete in this year's U.S. Open, especially at...

Bucks' Damian Lillard upgraded to questionable for Game 6

The availability of Milwaukee Bucks stars Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo for a must-win Game 6 against the Indiana Pacers will be a game-time decision, coach Doc Rivers said Thursday afternoon. Lillard, who was doing his pregame warmups, was upgraded from doubtful to questionable earlier Thursday as the Eastern Conference first-round series continues tonight in Indianapolis. "Giannis is more doubtful than Damian, but both had great workouts today," Rivers said. Antetokounmpo, a two-time NBA MVP, was listed as doubtful on the NBA injury report as he deals with the calf injury that has kept him out of the series and off the court since April 9.

Maple Leafs rule out Auston Matthews for Game 6 vs. Bruins

TORONTO -- Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews has been ruled out for Game 6 of the first-round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Bruins on Thursday. The Leafs trail the Bruins 3-2 in the best-of-seven series and face elimination with another loss. Matthews missed the third period of Game 4 and all of Game 5 with what the Leafs have deemed a "lingering" illness. Toronto's top center has skated on his own the past three days -- including for nearly 30 minutes prior to the Leafs' morning skate Thursday -- but coach Sheldon Keefe said it would be the team's doctors ultimately making a call on whether Matthews made it into the lineup. Toronto already extended its series once without Matthews available when they topped Boston 2-1 in overtime of Game 5. The Leafs planned to use a similar blueprint in Game 6 to grind the Bruins down and even the series one last time. "It's a bit of the human nature piece; you recognize everyone has to be better," Keefe...

Bulls' Alex Caruso honored with NBA's Hustle Award

Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso was named the winner of the NBA's annual Hustle Award on Thursday afternoon. Caruso, 30, averaged 10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.0 blocks per game this season -- one of nine qualifying players to average at least a steal and a block. Long considered one of the league's toughest and grittiest players, Caruso was an All-Defensive first-team selection last season and is a strong candidate to land on one of the league's two All-Defensive Teams later this month. The Hustle Award "honors players who make the traditional effort plays that don't often appear in the traditional box score, but impact winning on a nightly basis." Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes was second in the voting, followed by Golden State Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Luguentz Dort and Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams. Desmond Claude, Big East's Most Improved Player, to join USC

Xavier transfer Desmond Claude, winner of the Big East's Most Improved Player award, has committed to USC, he told ESPN. Claude becomes the Trojans' ninth transfer addition and 11th newcomer of the offseason, as new coach Eric Musselman moves closer to finalizing his first USC roster. Claude chose the Trojans after taking a visit to their campus last weekend. "It honestly felt like a perfect fit from the first call," Claude said. "The academic support, basketball resources and basketball vision all seemed custom-made for me. Also, Coach Musselman has a proven track record over the past several years of helping big lead guards make the jump to being NBA-ready guards." A 6-foot-6 guard, Claude was a late bloomer in the 2022 high school class, but his size and ability to score and create for others put him on the radar of high-major programs. He committed to Travis Steele at Xavier, then kept his pledge when Sean Miller took over following the coaching change. Claude...

Warren: Steelers coordinator eyed Justin Fields for returns

PITTSBURGH --  Justin Fields, return man? Maybe if Pittsburgh Steelers special teams coordinator Danny Smith has his way. In a live recording of Cam Heyward's "Not Just Football" podcast from the Steelers' draft party over the weekend, running back Jaylen Warren said Smith suggested that Fields, whom the Steelers acquired in a March trade with the Chicago Bears, could return kickoffs with the rule change preventing players from moving until the returner touches the ball. "I think it's pretty good," Warren told Heyward, when asked how he felt about the new kickoff rules. "As soon as you touch the ball, that's when everything starts to happen. "Our special teams coordinator was talking about Justin Fields being back there. We're like, 'Hold up, hold up.' We looked at him like, 'Justin Fields is about to be back there?' I don't know. I think it's cool." Smith, who has been the Steelers' special teams coordinator since 2013, is known...

76ers owners buy Game 6 tickets to block Knicks fans

The owners of the 76ers and former minority owner Michael Rubin have purchased tickets for Thursday's Game 6 of Philadelphia's playoff series against the Knicks in an attempt to block New York fans from once again overrunning Wells Fargo Center. Knicks fans were an overwhelming presence at Game 4 at Wells Fargo for New York's comeback victory, prompting Sixers star Joel Embiid to express his disappointment with Philadelphia fans. One day after the Sixers extended the series with an improbable Game 5 victory in New York, Rubin announced Wednesday on social media that he had teamed up with owners Josh Harris, David Blitzer and David Adelman to purchase "more than 2,000" tickets for Game 6. The Fanatics CEO said the tickets would be given to "first responders, health care professionals and other local Philadelphia-based organizations." A video posted Wednesday to the 76ers' official Instagram account showed tickets being given to fans on the...

Walker Buehler expected to return from elbow surgery Monday

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler is expected to make his return to the big leagues Monday after missing nearly two full years following Tommy John surgery in 2022. "The plan is Walker's going to start on Monday," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Wednesday's 8-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. "We're excited about that. Everything checked out. It'll be good." The Dodgers play at home Monday against the Miami Marlins. Buehler, a two-time All-Star, hasn't thrown in a big league game since June 10, 2022, against the San Francisco Giants. He's trying to become one of the few pitchers to bounce back from a second Tommy John surgery, which usually keeps pitchers off the mound for 12-18 months. Buehler could make a talented Dodgers team even more formidable. He was one of the best pitchers in baseball during the 2021 season, finishing with a 16-4 record and a 2.47 ERA over 207⅔ innings. Buehler had an extended rehab assignment...

Tensions erupt between Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya at presser

LAS VEGAS -- Canelo Alvarez, boxing's top star, and his former promoter, Hall of Fame boxer Oscar De La Hoya, engaged in a heated verbal exchange at a Wednesday news conference ahead of Alvarez's undisputed super middleweight championship defense vs. Mexican countryman Jaime Munguia on Saturday.  Golden Boy Promotions CEO De La Hoya, Munguia's co-promoter, instructed Alvarez from the MGM Grand dais to "put some f---ing respect" on De La Hoya's name, a response to the bad blood between the pair that's simmered since their 10-year promoter-fighter relationship ended in 2020. "Yes, I've been to rehab several times," De La Hoya said. "Yes, there were some really low points in my life. And yes, there were times that work was not my priority based on my mental health, which I had neglected for so long. But that doesn't change the fact that Golden Boy built Canelo over this period." Then De La Hoya did his best to poke Alvarez by mentioning his positive test for the banned...

Celtics close out Heat in Game 5, 'learning from our mistakes'

BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics pounded the short-handed Miami Heat  118-84 on Wednesday to knock out their longtime rival in five games and advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals. In taking the series, Boston avenged its 2023 conference finals loss to Miami, which was a No. 8 seed. "That's how it should be -- we should be learning from our mistakes and things we could've done better and applying it to the next season, because we're trying to have a different outcome this year," said Celtics star Jayson Tatum, adding that the victory was necessary for Boston's maturation as a team. This first-round matchup ended almost exactly the way it started, with Boston connecting early from deep while the Heat struggled from outside. The Celtics drilled 16 3-pointers and hit 40% of their tries while Miami was 3-of-29 from 3-point territory. The series itself was never truly in doubt, even after a record-breaking shooting performance from the Heat in Game...

Ezekiel Elliott on Cowboys return: 'Got unfinished business'

FRISCO, Texas -- When Ezekiel Elliott was introduced to the crowd at Riders Field before the Reliant Energy Home Run Derby Wednesday, it was as if Elliott was home again. Elliott signed a one-year deal with the  Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday and has been part of the on-field workouts this week after spending last year with the New England Patriots. "It was just important to me just to get back here and finish what I started," Elliott said at the Cowboys' annual fundraiser. Elliott spent the first seven years of his career with the Cowboys, becoming the franchise's third all-time leading rusher behind Hall of Famers Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett. He was named to the Pro Bowl three times and an All-Pro once. In 103 games, he ran for 8,262 yards on 1,881 carries with 68 touchdowns. He caught 305 passes for 2,336 yards with 12 touchdowns.
